Social Justice – "The pursuit of a fair society based on equity, human rights, and equal access to opportunities, aiming to eliminate systemic inequities regarding race, gender, and economic status." In 2018, I took notice of the surge in grassroots rallies and began documenting the diverse voices and participants present at these events. This experience reminded me of the dedicated correspondents from the 60s and 70s, who, through their lenses, brought to light the harsh realities of humanity. Inspired by their work, I aimed to replicate this impactful storytelling through my own photography, capturing the emotions and expressions of individuals in a way that tells their stories vividly. As we look to 2026, it is evident that public expressions of discontent regarding racial equality, human rights, systemic inequalities, governmental overreach, and equal opportunities have surged to levels not seen since the 1970s. The images I captured not only reflect the sincerity and authentic feelings of the subjects but also highlight the shared beliefs and deep commitment each participant holds towards the issues they passionately advocate for.
